Simple. Thoughtful. Meaningful.
Launched in 2004, Haiku makes poetically functional accessories for women.
The name of the Berkeley, California-based company, originates from founder, designer, and creator Sharon Eisenhauer's passion for and interest in all things Japanese. "I have always been drawn to Japanese style and design," Eisenhauer explains. "I adopted my daughter from Japan, which inspired the development of the brand. I also like the simplicity of the Japanese poetry form, haiku," she continues. "A haiku poem expresses something in very few words and yet it all works together. It has meaning beyond the first glance." And it's these attributes - beauty, simplicity and function - that describe Eisenhauer's growing line.
Like a haiku poem, a Haiku bag has everything you need and nothing you don't. "Every single design comes out of function," Eisenhauer notes. But it has to be stylish, too. It is essential that every item produced by Haiku be poetically functional: that perfect union of style and substance.
